Named in honour of Bromley’s Cafe our tearoom is situated on the ground floor, where you can relax with beautiful views of the square. The menu includes a range of fresh traditional lunches including homemade soups, Devonshire cream teas, delicious cakes and a selection of hot and cold beverages.

All Roads Lead To Bromleys: The History of Bromleys.
In 1919 Arthur Bromley was listed as a ‘pastrycook’ with a bakery on Barnstaple High Street. The prize winning chef soon took over the premises behind, opening a restaurant on the Strand side to complement his bakery (currently the Watergate Wetherspoons).
Over the next 65 years Bromley’s Cafe became a Barnstaple institute. It was the place for dances, birthday parties, cream teas and was so successful it even ran a milk and snack bar frequented by the hungry bus drivers from the bus station opposite.
Still remembered by Devonians and further afield for its tea dances and roast dinners the Bromley family sold the premises in 1984, still trading as a bakery in the High Street until 2005.
