The Shapland and Petter furniture factory (later Leaderflush Shapland door manufacturers) was Barnstaple’s biggest employer for most of the 20th century. They enjoyed particular success with their line of Arts and Crafts style furniture at the turn of the 20th century.
The collection holds some beautiful examples of furniture, key objects from factory life and the design archives of the company.
