Some aspects of the Christmas holiday were particularly Devonian – mummers, a gooding and the ashen faggot, while others, like Stir Up Sunday were much like other parts of England.
Dr Todd Gray has devoted his working career to the study of Devon’s history. His passion for his adopted county is self-evident through his publications and in his lectures. He has written more widely on Devon than any other historian and is at the heart of its historical community.
This talk by Dr Todd Gray will explored Christmas in Devon over the last 400 years.
It will take place on Saturday 16th December 2023 at 2:00 – 3:30pm.
