Wilfred Avery and the Unpredictable Image – Talk and book signing by Art Historian, writer and Curator Francesca Ramsay

Nov 25, 2023   -   Nov 25, 2023

Join art historian, writer and curator Francesca Ramsay for a talk on the life and art of locally born artist Wilfred Avery. Francesca Ramsay curated the current exhibition of Wilfred Avery’s work, on display here at the Museum, and has recently published a book about his life and work, Wilfred Avery and the Unpredictable Image.

Devon-born Wilfred Avery (1926-2016) focused on just two subjects in his career: landscape and the male body. The inspiration he found in his childhood landscape became a thread that ran through his sixty year career; wherever he was living, and whatever he was painting, Wilfred found himself consistently looking back to North Devon.

This talk and book signing will take place on Saturday 25th November 2023 at 2:00 – 3:30pm. To book tickets for this event, please click on the button below.
